Snoring? What type of snorer are you?

In my opinion, snoring can have a significant impact on people’s well being and relationship. I have personally witnessed a caring husband slept at 3am every night only to allow his wife to get a head start to catch some sleep. Because of that, this poor husband ages much faster than his peers, and his health deteriorates.

So, knowing what type of snorer you or your noisy partner are, may help in better managing the issue.

Nasal Snorer

Sound like: Darth Vader

Quick fix: Try nasal dilator strips, it helps to keep the nostrils open and improve airflow.

Tongue Snorer

Sound like: High-pitch Snore

Quick fix: Try to sleep on your side as much as you can. Pro Tips: You may go as far as sewing a tennis ball into the back of your pajamas.

Mouth Snorer

Sound like: A “Pig” Snore with mouth open

No Quick fix: Advice to maintain a healthy BMI, quit smoking and limit alcohol intake.

Sleep Apnea

Sound like: A crescendo of loud snoring followed by silence... and then coughing, gasping for breathing.

No Quick fix: Advised to consult a sleep doctor for a sleep study to confirm the diagnosis, and recommending appropriate treatment.
